Wedding rings for Betu and Mar. 2019
One fairly rainy day we met with Mar and Betu in Berga; they were getting married on St John’s Day and wanted me to make their wedding rings. They were very clear that the rings needed to convey all the passion they shared about
nature, forests, trees and cork, though in different ways: Mar loved feeling the woods, hugging the trees to feel closer to them, sensing their energy. Betu, meanwhile, worked in with cork, with
the trees’ bark to create different objects. The bark in itself is an embrace and a protection for the tree, so I suggested creating the rings with cork and then plating them in gold. In this way,
they could feel the warmth of the embrace and the protection of the cork.
I modelled them in cork with all the delicacy that making rings with this material involves, and then I plated them in gold, so they were left with the texture of the cork. What do you think?
